Revenue from the lottery will primarily support healthcare initiatives

Dá Sorte has officially launched its operations as the operator of São Paulo’s state lottery.

The company celebrated the milestone by bringing together executives from technology partners Brightstar Lottery and Scientific Games, representatives of the São Paulo State Government, suppliers, strategic partners and members of the operator’s own team.

“We’re proud to be here and contributing to this great initiative,” stated Marco Tasso, COO of Brightstar.

“We have one purpose only: to benefit the citizens of the state of São Paulo, to deliver value to the healthcare system, to build hospitals. We are humbled by this opportunity,” said Michael Conforti, President of Scientific Games.

According to Dá Sorte, the event marked the start of a new chapter for the company after months of preparation to bring São Paulo’s first state lottery into operation.

The concession is expected to become one of Brazil’s largest regional lottery projects, with proceeds primarily allocated to public healthcare, marking the beginning of a concession expected to generate up to BR4bn ($738m) in public revenue over the next 15 years.

The operator said the initiative is designed to generate significant resources for the sector while expanding access to healthcare services across the state.

The company also described the concession as an opportunity to combine technology, strategic partnerships and innovation while establishing São Paulo’s state lottery network.

Recently, a survey found that a growing number of São Paulo residents are turning to online betting in an attempt to supplement household income, from 25% to 35% in two years.

Separately, the city approved a new Times Square-inspired LED billboard project, although betting advertising will not be permitted on the displays.
