FanDuel has confirmed its anticipated market entry into Alberta once the province’s newly regulated online gambling market launches on 13 July, joining operators such as DraftKings, Caesars Entertainment and BetMGM.

"Alberta represents an exciting new chapter for FanDuel Canada, and we look forward to the opportunity to bring our industry-leading Casino and Sportsbook experience to players across the province," FanDuel Canada GM Dale Hooper said.

"As we plan to enter this new market, we're committed to delivering a best-in-class entertainment experience and meaningful community engagement remains at the heart of everything we do."

While FanDuel’s entry into Alberta is still pending regulatory approval, the operator also celebrated its most recent expansion by donating $50,000 to the A Dollar A Day Foundation and $30,000 to the Canada Red Cross Emergency Management Program.

The A Dollar A Day Foundation helps bridge the gap between funding and frontline mental health programs, while the Canada Red Cross Emergency Management Program ensures communities in Alberta are prepared for disasters and supported through crises.

FanDuel has shown support for the A Dollar A Day Foundation over the past three years, contributing approximately $150,000 to help mental health programs in both Alberta and Ontario.

The operator also highlighted local partnerships with the Canadian Football League and FanDuel Canada’s role as the title sponsor of the Cowboys Stampede Showdown Charity Poker Tournament in support of the Calgary Stampede Foundation.

FanDuel has also formed an exclusive partnership with Light & Wonder to offer the supplier’s Huff N’ Puff slot franchise to players in Alberta.

BetMGM opened the pre-registration process for prospective iGaming players in Alberta on 26 June, representing the operator’s first international expansion since entering Ontario in 2022.

The province originally opened its iGaming licence procurement process in January 2026, approximately 18 months after announcing it would follow in the footsteps of Ontario and introduce regulated online gambling.
