BetMGM has opened the pre-registration process for prospective iGaming players in Alberta, ahead of the province’s anticipated market launch on 13 July and representing the operator’s first international expansion since entering Ontario in 2022.
“Alberta players can enjoy legendary experiences as well as the same product strength, responsible gambling leadership and MGM-powered rewards that fueled BetMGM’s growth in Ontario,” BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt said.
“Alberta represents a significant opportunity to drive meaningful impact as we build on our momentum across North America.”
The province originally opened its iGaming licence procurement process in January 2026, approximately 18 months after announcing it would follow in the footsteps of Ontario and introduce regulated online gambling.
Along with BetMGM, sports betting and online casino operators such as DraftKings, FanDuel, bet365, Caesars Entertainment, theScore Bet and BetRivers also unveiled plans to enter the newly regulated market.
In celebration of the launch in Alberta, BetMGM will sponsor a new sweepstakes where players can win two tickets to a National Hockey League (NHL) game of their choosing during the 2026-2027 regular season.
BetMGM has also partnered with Corus Entertainment to connect the operator with Alberta residents through the organisation’s media ecosystem, including radio, podcasts and streaming platforms.
Corus Entertainment SVP of Media Sales & Solutions Christopher Mercer spoke on the collaboration, having said, “This partnership with BetMGM highlights the strength of Corus Entertainment’s trusted brands and deep audience connections across our local markets.
“By combining the broad reach of our radio stations, digital properties, streaming platforms and podcast network, we’re creating new ways for brands to engage consumers through relevant content, premium experiences and innovative advertising solutions, bringing BetMGM closer to audiences in authentic and impactful ways.”
