Francisco Javier Leiva Vega, Chile's first Casino Superintendent and the longest-serving official to hold the role, has joined AgruGaming as Director of Institutional Relations.
The newly formed association seeks to represent suppliers to the country's gambling industry.
His appointment comes as Chile's Congress continues to debate legislation that would establish a regulatory framework for online gambling, an issue that has remained under discussion for several years.
AgruGaming was established last month. Patricio Broerse serves as President, while David Fica is Director of Development and Coordination. Its founding members are Haimme, Retina Cibersecurity and Mixer Gaming & Tech. According to Fica, the association expects to announce new members on a weekly basis.
The association aims to bring together suppliers across game technology, live casino, sports betting, payments, marketing and cybersecurity, with a focus on helping companies comply with current and future regulations.
Fica said: "We want to help the industry navigate regulatory requirements so companies can comply with both existing legislation and the law that is expected to regulate online gambling."
Leiva joined Marina del Sol as Development Manager after leaving the Superintendency in 2021 and remained in the role until January 2026 before taking up his position at AgruGaming.
He said: "My goal has always been to support the development of Chile's gaming industry in line with international best practices.
"Chile's online gaming industry is lagging behind several other Latin American markets."
Addressing concerns over operators with offshore structures and unclear ownership, Leiva said AgruGaming represents technology suppliers rather than operators. He added that most of its members are international companies without a physical presence in Chile and argued that their expertise could contribute to the ongoing legislative process.
Before joining AgruGaming, Leiva served as Development Manager at Marina del Sol between 2021 and January 2026
