After a difficult 24-hour period for Ocean Casino Resort and its employees, gambling activities are anticipated to resume today.
Indeed, at around 5:30am local time the Atlantic City Fire Department responded to a call from the casino stating that a fire had broken out in the property’s linen room. However, while tackling the fire, a pipe elsewhere in the building burst – causing part of the ceiling in the lobby to collapse, as well as affecting some hallways and elevator functionality.
According to property officials, the leak affected the building’s gaming support systems, leading to the closure of its gambling activities yesterday. Now, the casino has now outlined that it is ready to return to business and expects to reopen its casino floor today after resolving the issues with no reported injuries.
This latest development comes following the official opening of the Ocean Casino Resort 18 Mini Golf & Bar entertainment venue located on the casino level of the Atlantic City property in January 2026.
Additional recent updates from properties on the Atlantic City Strip saw Hard Rock AC undertake a $50m renovation project for 2026, with Caesars also launching a new beach club destination at its AC property in May – complete with a full-service bar, live DJ entertainment and a rooftop deck which includes a DJ booth and VIP seating.
In more recent news, it has been a busy month for the New Jersey market during July, with the state’s Budget Committee approving new legislation which seeks to tax prediction market gross income at 9% and introduce responsible gaming safeguards.
Elsewhere, the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement reported a $585.6m revenue figure for the state’s combined iGaming and sports wagering activities during the month of June, marking an increase of 0.7% year-over-year.
