Macau's gross gaming revenue (GGR) stood at MOP18.06bn for September 2026. This was down 1.2% from MOP18.29bn during the same month last year, according to figures from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.
The result extended the market's modest year-on-year decline from August, when GGR also fell 1.2% to MOP21.89bn. However, September's revenue was 17.5% lower month-on-month.
Despite the decline, Macau remained ahead of its 2025 performance on a year-to-date basis. Casino GGR totaled MOP187.12bn during the first nine months of 2026, up 3.2% from MOP181.34bn during the comparable period last year.
The year began with several months of growth, including a 24% increase in January and 15% rise in March. Momentum weakened from June, when GGR declined 12.1% year-on-year, followed by an 8.4% decrease in July and smaller declines in August and September.

The September result came despite continued growth in Macau's tourism sector. The city passed 30 million visitor arrivals by September 11, reaching the threshold 22 days earlier than in 2025. Average daily arrivals stood at approximately 119,000, representing an 8% year-on-year increase.
Transport activity has also increased. Macau International Airport handled 5.21 million passengers during the first eight months of the year, up 5.6%, while flight movements rose 0.3% to approximately 38,000.
Attention now turns to the fourth quarter, with the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday period expected to bring another increase in visitor traffic.
Despite four consecutive months of year-on-year GGR declines since June, Macau's accumulated gaming revenue remains above the previous year's level heading into the final quarter of 2026.
Few weeks ago, Citi had cut its September GGR forecast to MOP18bn after observing weaker premium-mass activity
