The US Supreme Court has chosen to deny Red Rock Resorts’ emergency stay request to delay compliance with a previously issued union bargaining order, helping to push forward the Culinary Union 226’s attempt to unionize workers at the property.
Red Rock Resorts originally began seeking intervention from the US Supreme Court on September 2 in hopes of delaying compliance with an order from the National Labor Relations Board to negotiate with a union.
Instead, Culinary Union 226 will continue with its plan to unionize workers at Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa, Boulder Station and Palace Station.
Red Rock Resorts – which serves as the parent company of Station Casinos – was issued its first mandatory bargaining order by the National Labor Relations Board in 2024 after the operator was found to have committed unfair labor practices during the run-up to a 2019 union election.
The operator was also penalized in 2022 for engaging in “serious and pervasive” unfair labor practices during a Culinary Union organizing campaign.
Culinary Union 226 Secretary-Treasurer Ted Pappageorge described the Supreme Court’s denial as a “monumental decision” during a press conference held at the Culinary Union 226 headquarters in Las Vegas.
President of Culinary Union 226 Diana Vallas was also in attendance, alongside Nevada Representatives Dina Titus, Steven Horsford and Susie Lee.
“I can’t tell this story as eloquently as our warriors from Stations can. You hear it from them, from the heart and from the front lines. But I can be here to stand with you and congratulate you on this great victory at the Supreme Court,” Titus said.
During Q2 and H1 2026, Red Rock Resorts witnessed decreases in net revenue, adjusted EBITDA and net income for both periods, primarily due to softer results in Las Vegas.
Net revenue during the second quarter of 2026 was $510.3m and decreased 3%, while adjusted EBITDA totaled $208m and fell 9.3%. Red Rock Resorts’ net income for Q2 decreased 30.6% year-over-year to $39.1m.
Red Rock Resorts appointed J. Colby Williams as the operator’s new EVP and General Counsel in June, succeeding Jeffrey Welch who will remain with the operator through the conclusion of 2026
