Lotería Chaqueña marked National Illegal Gambling Awareness Day on December 22 by illuminating the facades of public buildings in red, reinforcing its message in support of legal, safe and responsible gambling across Argentina's Chaco province.

The symbolic action was carried out as part of a broader provincial campaign aimed at raising public awareness about the risks associated with unlicensed gambling activity and its impact on consumers and public finances. The initiative received backing from Governor Leandro Zdero and was implemented by the lottery's board of directors and prevention division.

Alongside the awareness campaign, Lotería Chaqueña reported significant enforcement activity against illegal online gambling operations. Over the past two years, the regulatory body has taken legal action against 1,275 unlicensed platforms operating in the province.

According to the lottery, authorities processed 2,557 complaints through a confidential hotline and the organization's official website during that period, working in coordination with the Provincial Security Ministry and Chaco Police.

These efforts resulted in criminal proceedings against 690 illegal online gambling platforms in 2024, carried out jointly with Lotería Correntina, while a further 585 clandestine websites were identified in 2025.

Lucas Apud Masin, president of Lotería Chaqueña, said regulated gambling plays a key social role in the province.
He said: "Legal gambling protects people, protects families and strengthens our community, since everything collected returns to society through public works and social welfare initiatives."

The lottery said enforcement efforts will continue through a combination of public reporting mechanisms, digital monitoring tools and interprovincial cooperation, as authorities seek to limit the reach of illegal gambling operations and protect consumers.
