IAFAS, the gambling regulator for Argentina’s Entre Ríos province, transferred ARS 6.55bn ($6.2) to provincial social programs in 2025, representing a 267% increase compared to the previous year.

The growth was supported by higher revenue across the province’s regulated gaming operations, according to figures published by the regulator. IAFAS oversees lottery products, casinos and gaming halls throughout Entre Ríos, as well as regulated online betting services, which have gained relevance in recent years within the provincial market.

The Ministry of Economy received the largest share of the funds, totaling ARS 4.08bn, followed by the Provincial Sports Fund, which was allocated ARS 1.03bn. Additional distributions included ARS 575.4m directed to social economy entrepreneurs through the Ministry of Social Development and ARS 285.2m assigned to the Provincial Security Fund. Health programs received ARS 62.4m.

Cultural initiatives were also among the beneficiaries of gaming-derived funding. The Independent Theater of Entre Ríos received ARS 247.6m, while the Audiovisual Institute of Entre Ríos was allocated an equivalent amount. A further ARS 28.4m was directed to pension schemes supporting homemakers.

The latest figures underscore the role of gaming revenue as a complementary funding source for public-sector programs within the province.

The sharp year-on-year increase reflects both the scale of gaming activity in Entre Ríos and the growing weight of regulated gambling in provincial fiscal planning.
