The Government of Neuquén is moving ahead with changes to the tax and regulatory framework governing the betting sector, seeking to align conditions across industries and increase provincial revenues.
The initiative forms part of a wider package of measures promoted by the administration of Rolando Figueroa, focused on revisiting preferential regimes and updating existing contracts.
According to information disclosed by provincial authorities, a resolution is expected to be signed shortly that would raise the Ingresos Brutos tax paid by an operator based in Neuquén.
The Ingresos Brutos tax is a provincial-level tax in Argentina levied on the gross revenue of most commercial, industrial, and service activities.
If approved, the rate would increase from 2% to 3%, bringing it in line with the general rate applied to other commercial activities in the province.
Neuquén also plans to revise the gaming fee charged for the exploitation of betting activities.
Under the current model, operators pay a 15% fee on gross revenue generated both in physical venues and through online betting.
The proposed changes would raise the fee applied to land-based betting to 17%, while maintaining the 15% rate for digital platforms.
At present, payments are based on revenue from the same month in the previous year and under the new approach, the fee would be calculated using revenue from the immediately preceding month, allowing for a more accurate and timely reflection of actual business performance.
The developments follow Neuquén’s recent move to expand the regulatory powers of its gaming authority to oversee online gambling.
Neuquén’s gaming regulator recently expanded public engagement initiatives by participating in a major provincial festival
