The KSA has introduced many new methods in the fight against illegal gambling activity – funding for five projects to decrease gambling harm, flagging and issuing instructions to operators for not following the guidelines and informing providers over player costs.
Fines were given to BetCity for not protecting young people from gambling harms and a record penalty of €24.8m ($28.9m) was issued to Novatech for providing illegal gambling opportunities.
The KSA has been working closely with various organisations and during a recent meeting with the alliance, different trends and insights were shared.
How companies can protect their logo and brand was also discussed by the regulator, and further suggestions on how to better tackle illegal providers on social media.
The KSA has continued its support to licensed providers and has taken a firm stance on unregulated gambling activity, despite difficulties in this market.
