Authorities enforced local ordinances to shut down an illegal casino-style venue operating without authorization in San Carlos
The premises will remain sealed until it complies with applicable administrative and regulatory requirements

Police and officials from San Carlos’ Municipal Public Security Directorate carried out a joint enforcement operation resulting in the closure of a venue located on Brasil Street that was operating as an unauthorized gambling establishment. The action followed inspections conducted by municipal security and finance teams.

The closure was formalized and ordered the immediate cessation of activities at the premises after authorities determined that the venue was operating in violation of local regulations.

During the operation, officers found three individuals inside the establishment, along with a woman who identified herself as the person in charge of the site.

Municipal officials formally notified the manager of the closure in accordance with Law No. 19.880, which governs administrative procedures in Chile. Other individuals present at the location were also notified.

San Carlos’ Municipal Ordinance 31 expressly prohibits the operation of casino-style gambling venues within the commune, unless they are duly authorized under applicable legal frameworks.

Authorities subsequently sealed the premises by placing official notices on the doors to prevent access and ensure compliance with the closure order.

Municipal officials said the establishment will remain closed until it regularizes its administrative situation with the competent authorities. They emphasized that the enforcement action is part of broader efforts to uphold local regulations and prevent unauthorized gambling activity within the municipality.

The closure reflects a wider pattern of regulatory enforcement across Chile, where local governments have increasingly relied on municipal ordinances to curb illegal gambling venues operating outside the national casino licensing regime.

Authorities emphasized that such measures are aimed at protecting public order and ensuring compliance with existing legal frameworks.
