RWA says unified industry collaboration is essential amid ongoing regulatory reform

Responsible Wagering Australia has welcomed the launch of CrownBet and confirmed that the brand has formally joined its membership. The announcement marks a significant development as Australia enters the Autumn racing carnivals and the start of the NRL and AFL seasons.

The new brand will be operated by Betfair Pty, which will offer a fixed-odds wagering product under the CrownBet name. This will sit alongside the existing Betfair betting exchange, expanding the range of options available to customers within Australia’s regulated wagering framework.

RWA Chief Executive Kai Cantwell said, “The addition of CrownBet to our membership further strengthens the industry’s unified voice at an important time for policy and regulatory reform.”

Mr Cantwell also said that with regulatory scrutiny increasing, cooperation among licensed operators is essential for strengthening consumer protections and upholding integrity and transparency across the industry.

Amy Zavros, CEO of Betfair Pty, said the new CrownBet offering would better serve customers who prefer a fixed-odds product while retaining the unique advantages of the Betfair exchange.

“This expanded offering reflects our commitment to innovation and delivering greater choice within a highly regulated environment,” Ms Zavros said.

The announcement also aligns with the strategic direction of Crown Resorts, which owns and operates major integrated resorts in Melbourne, Perth and Sydney and holds a 50% interest in the UK-based Aspers Group. Crown’s portfolio includes several digital businesses such as Betfair Australia.

RWA said its expanding membership base reinforces its role as the unified representative body for licensed online wagering providers in Australia.
