Argentina’s regulated gambling sector convened a broad cross-section of stakeholders in Buenos Aires to mark International Responsible Gambling Day, using the occasion to reinforce responsible marketing standards.
The event, held at the Hipódromo de Palermo, brought together representatives from leading football clubs Boca Juniors, River Plate, Independiente and Racing, as well as state lotteries, licensed online operators, media groups, content creators and healthcare professionals.
The gathering concluded a week of coordinated industry initiatives tied to the awareness date, aimed at drawing a clear distinction between licensed and illegal betting platforms.
Discussions focused on reputational risks facing the sector, particularly in a FIFA World Cup year, and on the need to improve public understanding of how to identify regulated operators.
In Argentina, authorized online platforms operate under the “.bet.ar” domain, a marker repeatedly highlighted during the event as a consumer protection tool.
Martín Pérez Disalvo, a famous streamer known as Coscu, said: “I have to be more responsible and take care of people, because we live off our followers.” He faced legal complaints in 2025 for promoting an unlicensed gambling site, addressed the role of influencers in betting-related advertising.
Ricardo Benedicto, President of the Cámara Argentina de Salas de Casinos, Bingos y Anexos, said: “The gambling industry is going through a profound transformation. We need to be more professional, responsible and transparent, because the social license is not just a regulatory authorization, it is also the public’s trust.”
Ida López, President of the Asociación de Loterías Estatales Argentinas, said: “Responsible gambling is the cross-cutting axis of our management. Society is asking us for responsibility and trust, and both the public and private sectors are working together toward that.”
Lottery authorities from more than a dozen Argentinian provinces attended, alongside regulators from Paraguay, Uruguay and Chile, underscoring growing regional coordination on consumer protection and enforcement.
Argentina’s online gambling market operates under a provincial licensing model rather than a single federal framework, a structure that has increased the emphasis on inter-jurisdictional cooperation to address unlicensed operators targeting players across borders.
Licensed operators, including Betsson, Codere, Bplay and Sportsbet were among the companies represented at the event
