The Asociación de Empleados de Casinos Nacionales (AECN) organized the annual distribution of school supply kits for the children of employees at Casino de Pinamar in Argentina, as part of its ongoing social support program for gaming sector workers.
The initiative provides essential educational materials at the beginning of the academic year and is designed to help offset back-to-school costs for casino employees.
According to union representatives, the program forms part of a broader assistance framework intended to complement traditional labor representation activities, including collective bargaining and workplace negotiations.
The distribution event was held at the Casino de Pinamar and was led by Marcos Labrador, President of AECN, who oversaw the handover of the school kits to families. Two days earlier, a similar event took place in Sierra de la Ventana, as the union is implementing the initiative across multiple gaming venues where it represents workers.
In a statement, Labrador said: “This gesture reinforces our commitment to be present, with empathy and support, in every stage and important moment in the lives of our members and their families.”
Argentina’s prolonged inflationary environment has increased household expenses in recent years, including education-related costs such as school supplies and materials. Within this context, unions in the land-based gaming sector have expanded direct assistance initiatives aimed at supporting members beyond wage-related matters.
While the program does not alter employment conditions or contractual frameworks, it reflects a growing emphasis among sector unions on social welfare measures and community-based engagement, particularly in tourist-driven markets such as Pinamar and other coastal gaming destinations.
Earlier this year, AECN led several strikes across several Buenos Aires province casinos, including Mar del Plata, amid stalled wage negotiations with provincial authorities
