Argentina's Ministry of Economy has published a resolution establishing mandatory advertising standards for online gambling platforms that directly impact influencers and public figures promoting betting sites.
The new regulation, which was published on the Official Bulletin, is effective on December 3 2025, and requires all online gambling advertisements to display prominent health warnings.
The new regulations require all gambling advertisements to display the messages "+18" and "COMPULSIVE GAMBLING IS HARMFUL TO HEALTH," occupying at least 10% of the total height of the ad. The text must appear in bold, horizontal format, with contrasting colors, and remain visible throughout the full duration of the advertisement.
The expanded visibility of these warnings indicates a regulatory shift toward stronger control over gambling-related messaging. By setting strict parameters for the size and placement of responsible gambling statements, authorities are redefining how operators communicate with consumers and establishing clearer limits between commercial content and public health messaging.
The resolution applies across all media channels, including social media platforms, billboards, radio, television, print and digital publications. In addition, the government has established an official reporting channel for citizens to report influencers or advertisers who fail to comply with the mandatory warning requirements.
The enforcement process will rely on administrative proceedings, indicating that the Government intends to monitor compliance through existing consumer and advertising control bodies.
The measure comes as Buenos Aires City Lottery (LOTBA) has intensified enforcement against illegal gambling promotion. Through reparation agreements with the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Gambling (FEJA), LOTBA has trained several influencers and celebrities on responsible gambling practices and the risks of unlicensed platforms. The regulator has also issued 93 formal notices and filed 22 complaints related to unauthorized operations.
Recent high-profile cases underscore the crackdown's scope. Former Big Brother Argentina contestants Joel Ojeda, Coti Romero and Catalina Gorostidi have all faced investigations for allegedly promoting unlicensed betting platforms. Authorities conducted raids that resulted in seizures of electronic devices and cash, with coordinated enforcement actions including over 30 simultaneous court-ordered raids and blocking approximately 2,300 social media profiles.
The new federal regulations complement LOTBA's ongoing "To speak is to win" campaign, which encourages dialogue and awareness to prevent minors from accessing online gambling platforms, addressing growing concerns about the reach these personalities have among younger audiences.
