Danish rules require a new inspection before a slot machine with a broken seal can be used

Lone Rasmussen has accepted a DKK 5,000 ($732) fine after turning on a slot machine with two broken seals at a gambling venue in Hvidovre, according to an enforcement notice published by the Danish Gambling Authority.

The regulator said the breach took place on 5 December 2024 at Snuppy Bodega, located at Hvidovrevej 267, 2650 Hvidovre. The machine involved was identified as Midnight Madness with ID number 0000000025a9.

Under Danish rules, a slot machine with a broken seal cannot be used until it has undergone a new inspection. The authority said Rasmussen turned on the machine despite two broken seals still being in place.

The case was treated as a breach of section 15(21)(1) of Executive Order no. 1289 of 29 November 2019 on slot machines in gambling arcades and restaurants.

The Danish Gambling Authority listed the field of law as gambling legislation and the type of reaction as a fine. It also stated that Rasmussen accepted the penalty on 26 March 2026.

The enforcement action adds to a series of recent notices involving slot machine compliance in Denmark, where the regulator has continued to publish decisions tied to inspection failures and unmet operational requirements at gambling premises.

While the fine in this case was lower than some other recent penalties, the notice underlines the authority's focus on the condition and certification status of gaming machines used in arcades and restaurants.

Broken seals are treated as a compliance issue because they require a fresh inspection before the machine can return to operation.

The published notice did not include further details on how long the seals had been broken before the machine was activated, or whether any additional measures were imposed at the premises beyond the fine accepted by Rasmussen.

The latest case follows other Danish enforcement action covered by GGI this week. On 14 April, GGI reported that MG Automater ApS and C.A.H Automatservice ApS had each accepted DKK 6,000 fines in separate slot machine compliance cases involving missed inspection requirements and failures to meet conditions set by the regulator.
