Inspired Entertainment has announced that it has been approved by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) and registered as an iGaming Goods or Services Supplier – Critical Gaming Systems (IGCS).
The approval enables the B2B content and solutions provider to work with operators in Alberta's forthcoming regulated iGaming market, which is expected to launch in the third quarter of 2026. When it does, Alberta will become only the second Canadian province to open a regulated commercial online casino and sports betting market.
The province has indicated that its approach will place a strong emphasis on regulation, player protection and social responsibility.
Inspired is not entering the province from a standing start. The company already has an active presence in Alberta through its partnership with Play Alberta, the government-operated iGaming platform, which it says has given it practical insight into the local market, regulatory environment and player preferences.
Commenting on the development, Brooks Pierce, President and CEO of Inspired, stated: “We are thrilled to receive our IGCS registration from the AGLC. Alberta is a highly attractive market, and our experience with Play Alberta gives us a strong foundation to expand responsibly.
“We look forward to helping operators deliver great gaming experiences while supporting the province’s commitment to player protection.”
The Alberta registration is the latest in a run of market entries and partnerships for Inspired. The company recently launched its iGaming portfolio in South Africa with six operators – including Hollywood Bets and Betway – and has also agreed to a global virtual sports distribution deal with Playtech as well as an expanded partnership with BetMGM in New Jersey.
Alberta is expected to become only the second Canadian province to introduce a regulated commercial iGaming market, following Ontario’s earlier rollout
