The Argentinian Municipality of Necochea has resumed the public auction process for its Casino Complex following a favorable court ruling, setting June 10 as the new date for the sale of one of the city's most debated gaming and tourism assets.

The decision follows a ruling by the Administrative Appeals Chamber in Mar del Plata, which revoked an injunction that had suspended the auction in February. Municipal authorities subsequently issued a new decree reactivating the process from the stage at which it had been interrupted.

Under the new schedule, the process will continue with the bidder that had already been admitted before the judicial suspension, A Toda Vela S.A., which remains the only qualified participant.

The renewed auction process comes as local concerns over employment remain at the center of the debate. Representatives of casino workers recently met with Mayor Arturo Rojas and municipal officials to discuss the property's future and the impact any redevelopment project could have on existing jobs.

Following those discussions, the municipality and labor representatives agreed to work together on measures aimed at preserving employment linked to the casino operation. Local authorities reiterated that the redevelopment initiative is intended to attract private investment while maintaining economic activity associated with the site.

Municipal officials have argued that private investment is necessary to restore the property and unlock new tourism and commercial development opportunities, while worker representatives continue to seek guarantees that any transition will not come at the expense of existing jobs.

As the auction process enters its final stage, worker representatives continue to push for employment safeguards. AMS Casinos Secretary General Fernando Hansen said the union supports the preservation of the casino's role in Necochea but acknowledged that the current condition of the complex underscores the need for a long-term solution that combines investment with job protection.
