IAFAS reported net profit of ARS5.12bn for June following higher gaming revenue and expense controls
Lottery products reached record performance during the month, according to the provincial authority
The institute said efficiency measures and workforce reductions have supported continued funding for statutory social programs

The Instituto de Ayuda Financiera a la Acción Social (IAFAS), the gambling authority responsible for lottery operations and casino oversight in Argentina's Entre Ríos province, reported a net profit of ARS5.12bn ($3.47m) for June after recording higher gaming revenue and continuing a series of cost-containment measures.

The June result concludes what IAFAS described as a strong first half of 2026, with lottery products reaching record monthly performance while revenue collection and operational efficiency initiatives contributed to higher profitability.

IAFAS operates legal gambling products throughout Entre Ríos, including lotteries, casinos and online gaming, with profits distributed under provincial legislation to sectors including sport, social economy, security, health and cultural initiatives.

The authority has increasingly positioned operational efficiency alongside responsible gambling and enforcement against illegal betting as central elements of its strategy.

According to the institute, one current infrastructure project involves upgrading communications links between its headquarters and provincial casinos, a measure expected to generate monthly savings of around ARS10m.

IAFAS also said its workforce has declined from 1,253 employees in July 2016 to 815 this month, continuing a long-term reduction in staffing while maintaining operations.

The institute stated that 18% of profits continue to be allocated to provincial sports programs, with additional statutory contributions directed to social economy initiatives, public security, healthcare and cultural funding, alongside pension obligations and transfers to the provincial Ministry of Economy.

The financial update follows several operational initiatives undertaken by IAFAS during 2026. In recent months, the authority introduced the NOVA+ parental control application to help block access to illegal gambling websites, maintained its Level 3 Responsible Gaming certification from the World Lottery Association and continued participation in national regulatory discussions through Argentina's lottery association ALEA.

Argentina's provincial gambling authorities have also faced growing pressure to strengthen controls on illegal online gambling while balancing revenue generation with responsible gambling measures.

Across several provinces, regulators have expanded blocking tools, educational campaigns and enforcement efforts as online betting activity continues to grow.

The latest financial update comes after lawmakers in Entre Ríos sought greater transparency over proposed IAFAS casino closures, requesting details on affected workers, locations and potential alternatives to preserve employment.

Good to know

IAFAS is the only body authorized to operate legal gambling products in Entre Ríos and distributes a proportion of its profits to social programs under provincial law
