The Buenos Aires City regulator, Lotería de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (LOTBA), has outlined its measures to prevent underage gambling and tackle illegal betting in the city.
The measures were presented during a meeting with organizations that form part of the Consejo de Planeamiento Estratégico (CoPE).
The regulator presented its digital prevention strategy for children and adolescents, as well as its enforcement plan against illegal gambling. Developed with the Fiscalía Especializada en Juegos de Azar (FEJA), the plan includes blocking illegal gambling sites, pursuing operators, training initiatives and institutional reparation agreements.
LOTBA President Jesús Acevedo led the regulator's delegation, alongside Director Ezequiel Domínguez, General Secretary Eva Frontera and Deputy Manager of Gaming Conduct Antonella Bottinelli.
CoPE Executive Director Hernán Reyes and representatives of the organizations that make up the council also attended, along with FEJA Head Juan Rozas and Legal Secretary Rodrigo Branca.
CoPE is chaired by Buenos Aires City Head of Government Jorge Macri and includes organizations representing the labor, business, education, cultural, religious and political sectors.
LOTBA has previously reported blocking more than 2,390 illegal gambling sites and referring more than 100 influencers to authorities over the promotion of unlicensed betting platforms.
In addition, it has recently trained BetWarrior staff on identifying early signs of problem gambling and applying responsible gambling tools, including self-exclusion measures and the SIRA system. The training was part of the regulator's work with licensed operators and covered the annual responsible gambling training required for betting personnel.
LOTBA has recently held a workshop for secondary school students on problem gambling, online betting and responsible technology use
