The Judicial Department of Necochea's Colegio de Martilleros y Corredores Públicos will open a registry for licensed auctioneers and public brokers interested in overseeing the sale of the Necochea Casino Complex.
The auction is tentatively scheduled for late January or early February 2026.
Rolando Raúl Rodríguez, President of the professional association, confirmed the development during a radio interview, following a recent meeting with Necochea Mayor Arturo Rojas and the municipality's Legal and Technical Secretary, Ernesto Povilaitis.
According to Rodríguez, the municipal executive formally requested the organization's involvement in the auction process after the relevant ordinance was approved by the Concejo Deliberante.
Rodríguez said: "We were summoned by the mayor to receive a formal request not only to move forward with the auction of the Necochea Casino Complex, but also to review the status of licensed auctioneers and public brokers in the district interested in participating in the sale of this city landmark."
The Colegio will conduct an internal call for licensed professionals to register as candidates. Those registered will then be submitted to the mayor's office, where a public lottery will be held to select the auctioneer responsible for carrying out the sale, in coordination with municipal authorities.
Rodríguez added that Mayor Rojas expressed interest in expediting the process while ensuring compliance with all formal and legal requirements. The lottery selection will be conducted under a notary public's supervision, with institutional backing from the Colegio for the designated professional.
The auction process follows the provisions set out in the municipal ordinance, which establishes that the auctioneer must be selected from the Colegio's roster and work jointly with municipal authorities. Rodríguez noted that while the organization was not involved in drafting the ordinance, no changes are required for the current stage.
