GG.Bet has confirmed that its UK services are now fully closed. The company surrendered its Casino and Real Event Betting licences on 13 December 2025, marking the end of its five-year presence in the market.
From 12 December 2025, GGBet stopped taking new sign-ups, deposits and bets across its slots, live casino, and sports products in the UK.
Visitors to GGBet.co.uk are now met with a notice stating that services are not available for UK residents. Access to games is restricted via Geo-IP technology, ensuring compliance with local licensing laws.
The operator highlighted that this closure was a planned and orderly process, designed to minimise disruption to existing customers.
Players affected by the shutdown are encouraged to contact customer service for any outstanding account queries or clarifications.
This exit comes amid rising taxes on online gaming, including a 40% online casino levy starting April 2026, and increased sports betting duties in the following year. Such pressures are prompting smaller operators to reconsider their presence in the UK market.
GG.Bet emphasised that the closure is final and no UK-based users will be able to access the platform going forward.
The company thanked its UK customer base for their participation and support during its operational tenure.
It's not just online operators facing closures; land-based casinos are also being wound down under regulatory supervision worldwide. For example, Macau's casino sector has seen a recent wave of closures under regulatory oversight. The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) led the shutdowns of Emperor Palace Casino and Mocha Grand Dragon Hotel, coordinating multiple government departments to ensure legal compliance.
Customers with existing accounts can log in and withdraw their remaining balances until 9 January 2026
