The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) has confirmed that the closure of the Mocha slot venue at the Grand Dragon Hotel, operated by Melco Resorts' Mocha Clubs, was completed without incident on the morning of November 25.
As reported in an official announcement, the bureau coordinated the shutdown with multiple departments to ensure the process was carried out lawfully and in an orderly manner.
Operations at the Grand Dragon Hotel venue ended at 23:59 on November 24. Immediately after closure, DICJ personnel commenced the deactivation of slot machines and worked closely with other authorities on premises clearance. The bureau stated that all procedures progressed in a structured and organized fashion.
Labour Affairs Bureau representatives were present throughout the process to respond to employee concerns and provide a dedicated hotline for follow-up assistance. Officers from the Public Security Police Force and the Judiciary Police were deployed to maintain order inside the venue and in surrounding areas.
The DICJ said it will strictly supervise the shutdown and dispatch staff to monitor each stage of the process on site.
The bureau added that it is working closely with the Labour Affairs Bureau to ensure Melco honours its commitments to the 64 affected employees at Mocha Hotel Royal. This includes safeguarding salary and benefits, maintaining working conditions and facilitating redeployment opportunities to support continued employment.
The DICJ stated it will continue coordinating with gaming concessionaires and government departments to promote the healthy and orderly development of Macau's gaming industry.
Melco's Mocha Hotel Royal is scheduled to cease operations at 23:59 on December 28, ahead of the expiry of the three-year transition period for satellite casinos at the end of the year
