Allwyn has been confirmed as the Official Volunteer Learning and Development Partner of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, with the appointment announced just over six months ahead of the opening medal event. The Games will take place in Glasgow from 23 July to 2 August 2026.
Under the partnership, Allwyn will support the training and development of more than 3,000 volunteers who will play a central role in delivering the sporting and cultural programme.
Funding is being provided through Allwyn’s Social Value Fund, an annual £1m ($1.34m) initiative designed to support community, cultural and volunteering projects linked to the operation of The National Lottery.
The investment will provide volunteers with access to a blended training programme combining an online learning platform with in-person sessions. Volunteers will be prepared for a wide range of roles, including venue and event support, transport, media services, athlete assistance, content creation and ceremonial activities.
Allwyn employees will also be encouraged to join the volunteer workforce, with the company positioning the initiative as part of its broader commitment to social value and community engagement.
The programme will include a post-Games evaluation to assess its longer-term impact and to help ensure that skills and experience gained by volunteers extend beyond the event itself.
Former Commonwealth Games athlete Eilidh Doyle has been appointed as an ambassador for the volunteering campaign. Doyle, a three-time Commonwealth silver medallist and Team Scotland flagbearer at the 2018 Gold Coast Games, will work with Allwyn to highlight the contribution volunteers make to the success of major sporting events. Scottish para-cyclist Fin Graham also attended the partnership launch.
Glasgow 2026 organisers said the partnership would enhance volunteer readiness following strong public interest, with thousands of applications received during the recruitment phase.
The announcement comes during a period of significant corporate activity for Allwyn. The company recently completed its acquisition of a 62.3% stake in US fantasy sports operator PrizePicks for $1.53bn, whilst its planned merger with Greek gaming operator OPAP continues to progress following the waiver of a key cash exit condition, with completion expected in the first half of 2026.
The development builds on Allwyn’s recent involvement in volunteer programmes for the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 and Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture
