Mario Ho Yau Kwan, son of the late Macau gaming figure Stanley Ho, made his first appearance as a Hainan Provincial Committee member at the opening of the 2026 Two Sessions on January 26, as reported by Hong Kong Commercial Daily. Speaking in the first “advisers corridor” session, Ho expressed strong confidence in the long term development of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

He told reporters that Hainan’s post closure policy environment offered significant advantages and said he hoped young entrepreneurs from the Greater Bay Area would not miss what he described as a rare opportunity. Ho recalled attending a promotional event for Hainan’s tourism and industry prospects in Macau in October 2025. He said that after learning about the incentives planned for the Free Trade Port, he decided to deepen his group’s participation in the province.

On December 18 2025, the day Hainan officially initiated full island customs closure, his group’s subsidiary Huanyu Commercial Management formally took up residence in Sanya. The company is developing the Blue Power sports and leisure resort in Haitang Bay, a project that blends esports, traditional sports, fashion and music.

Ho said the group is working to bring music festivals, esports tournaments and basketball related international exchange events to Sanya. The aim is to support the city’s goal of becoming a core zone for international tourism and consumption. According to the list of members released in January 2026, Ho represents the Communist Youth League and All China Youth Federation sector within the Hainan CPPCC.

Public records show Ho was born in 1995, studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and currently serves as chairman and CEO of the Victory Five Group. He has previously represented youth sectors in both Hubei and Hainan and has promoted deeper cooperation between Macau and mainland provinces, particularly in esports development.
