Crown Perth is set to implement carded-only play on all of its EGMs
This shift will take effect on 1 December 2025 and comes as part of a recent RG push
Almost half of the location's EGMs have already been subject to a technology update

Crown Perth has unveiled the planned introduction of carded-only play across all its Electronic Gaming Machines (EGMs) from 1 December 2025, as part of a recent investment into gambling harm prevention techniques.

The implementation of this new rule will make Western Australia the only global jurisdiction with cashless EGM play that comes complete with time and loss limits, guest self-monitoring of play and play safety checks - as will be provided by the Crown PlaySafe team in Perth. Indeed, all of these implementations will be in effect at Crown Perth as of December - as the location looks to further reduce gambling related harms and risks.

It has been further specified by Crown Perth that almost half of its active EGMs have already been upgraded with the new carded-only technology ahead of the fast-approaching launch date - with period play time-management limits having been a feature of the casino's EGM experience for some time.

Speaking on this development, Crown Perth CEO, Brian Pereira, stated: "Carded Play is a cornerstone of our commitment to safer gambling - it allows us to better understand and support our guests while fostering a safer environment. Carded play empowers guests with more information about their playing habits, promotes informed choices and allows earlier intervention if someone needs help."

This latest announcement falls in the wake of a separate retail-related update for Crown, which saw its Melbourne property recently penalised by the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission for breaches related to non-compliant poker machines which allowed players to exceed their time limits.

Elsewhere, earlier this summer, Crown Perth underwent a successful regulatory review as the Western Australian Government deemed it suitable to retain its casino licence following major operational reform and significant RG investment.
