The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) has unveiled a series of initiatives to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Mark Six lottery, including a public exhibition and two special Snowball draws, as part of its broader Year of the Horse campaign.
Launched in 1976, Mark Six has supported numerous social welfare organizations through lottery duty and contributions to the Lotteries Fund. Over the past five decades, it has become closely associated with the aspirations of generations of Hong Kong residents.
The “Mark Six 50th Anniversary Exhibition” will be held at Duplex Studio, Tai Kwun in Central from May 1 to May 10, open daily from 11 am to 7 pm. Under the theme “Connecting Dreams for a Better Future,” the exhibition will showcase historical artifacts, including some of the earliest lottery tickets. Visitors will also be able to experience a simulated draw studio and take instant photos with a retired drawing machine.
To commemorate the milestone, the Club will hold two 50th Anniversary Snowball draws. The first, scheduled for May 2, will feature an estimated First Division Prize Fund of HK$228m for a single HK$10 winning unit, the highest in Mark Six history. Details of the second draw will be announced later.
Following the May 2 draw, the fourth-generation drawing machine, in use for 16 years, will be retired and replaced with a fifth-generation model designed to meet the highest regulatory standards for fairness and transparency.
Commemorative merchandise and a dedicated anniversary website have also been launched to highlight key milestones and the lottery’s contributions to the community.
Tickets for the first Anniversary Snowball draw go on sale after the April 25 draw and close at 9:15 pm on May 2
