The New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) has released the figures for sports betting and casino action for the month of August.
The total sports betting handle came to $2.04bn, an increase of 35.2% year-on-year and the first time the jurisdiction has hit this milestone since May.
Gross gaming revenue grew by 35.7% to $178.2m, although this does reflect one of the lowest totals for GGR so far this fiscal year.
FanDuel was the leading operator this month, reporting a revenue of $66.9m, while DraftKings was a close second with $62.3m.
However, DraftKings accepted $579.6m in wagers, Fanatics hit a new monthly record of $565.8m and FanDuel surprisingly came last out of the three with $561.9m.
The casino results were also the highest they've been so far this year, with a $65m GGR reflecting a 4.7% increase year-on-year and a 7.3% boost month-on-month.
Slots and electronic table games (ETG) accounted for most of this, with annual growth of 9.5% in GGR leading to $47m in total.
In contrast, table games declined by 4.2% to $16.5m, although this is still the highest total reported for this sector this year.
This suggests that despite traditional table game activity still being lower than it was in 2024, it may yet see a recovery before the end of this year.
