FantasySpin and FastDraft have completed a corporate merger that will combine FantasySpin’s daily fantasy sports contests with FastDraft’s best ball platform.
The merged business said it recorded more than $1m in contest entries during its first year and will now target availability across 38 US states and Canada.
FantasySpin currently offers real-money DFS contests in 24 states and Washington DC, while FastDraft has built its product around shorter best ball drafts.
The transaction brings together two formats serving different parts of the fantasy sports market. DFS contests usually require users to build lineups for short-term contests, while best ball removes in-season roster management, with optimal lineups selected automatically.
FantasySpin said the combined platform will support contests across five major professional sports, as well as college football and basketball. Planned integrations include a shared wallet, account access across both platforms, shared promotions and expanded contest formats.
Steve “Dakota” Happas will serve as CEO of the combined business, while FastDraft founder Matt Kelley will become President.
FantasySpin CEO, Steve “Dakota” Happas, said: “Our community loves the immediate gratification of DFS and we recognize the explosive popularity of the Best Ball format.”
The deal comes as fantasy sports operators continue to adjust product models in response to regulation, competition and the growth of prediction markets.
The Fantasy Sports & Gaming Association says it represents more than 60 million fantasy sports players in the US and Canada.
Regulatory conditions remain uneven across the US. California’s Department of Justice issued a 2025 legal opinion on daily fantasy sports, while PrizePicks returned to New York after receiving an interactive fantasy sports license.
FantasySpin’s merger with FastDraft also follows wider consolidation and repositioning across fantasy products. Allwyn agreed to acquire a majority stake in PrizePicks in 2025, while larger operators have moved resources between DFS, sportsbook and prediction-market products.
In other related news, FanDuel confirmed in March that it would discontinue FanDuel Picks, its peer-to-peer fantasy sports product, with final contests made available on April 23 and account withdrawals open until May 29.
