Legend Palace Casino is the latest casino to shut as part of SJM Holding's plan to close 11 satellite casinos by the end of the year.
Macau's Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) will "strictly supervise the casino's closure procedures to ensure a smooth and orderly process, and that all legal procedures are properly implemented."
The DICJ will also deploy personnel to ensure that all casino chips, cash and unredeemed cash vouchers are handled in an appropriate manner.
There are also plans in place to resettle the 296 employees tied to Legend Palace Casino into other work opportunities, with additional safeguarding measures to protect their salaries, benefits and working conditions.
Earlier this year, the Macau SAR Government announced that satellite casinos must shut down in Macau by 31 December, 2025.
SJM Resorts, Melco Resorts and Galaxy Entertainment were all affected by the decision and posted notices to close 11 properties.
According to SJM Resorts, "All Macau residents currently working at the satellite casinos scheduled for closure... will be offered job opportunities within SJM Resorts' portfolio of properties." The company further stated that gaming tables and slot machines from affected locations would be reallocated to its self-owned venues.
Elsewhere in Macau, October was a powerful month in terms of gross gaming revenue - easily the most lucrative month for its casinos since the Covid-19 pandemic.
Individual operators have since reported their Q3 results, including Wynn Resorts, which saw strong performance particularly at Wynn Palace.
SJM Holdings was affiliated with seven satellite casinos, including Casino Casa Real and Casino Emperor Palace
