Korea Sports Leisure has expanded its incentive program to combat illegal sports gambling, offering rewards of up to KRW 200m for verified reports. As reported by The Chosun Daily, the initiative is part of the company’s broader effort to eradicate unauthorized betting activities linked to Sports Toto, the sports promotion lottery issued by the Seoul Olympic Memorial Korea Sports Promotion Foundation.

Through its Illegal Sports Toto Reporting Center, the operator accepts tips on individuals or groups involved in running, promoting or participating in illegal sports gambling sites. The reporting scope also includes match-fixing in sports events tied to lottery ticket issuance, as well as system design, broadcasting, brokering and the provision of event information for unlawful betting.

Under the program, reports of illegal gambling operations may qualify for rewards of up to KRW 200m. Match-fixing tips can earn up to KRW 50m, while information related to illegal gambling use or promotion may receive up to KRW 15m.

To file a report on an illegal gambling website, individuals must verify their identity and provide details such as the site’s URL, login credentials and other supporting evidence. Rewards for site reports are generally capped at KRW 15,000 per case and KRW 1.5m per person, subject to review by the Korea Communications Commission. In cases involving cloned or repeatedly generated URLs, payments may be limited to the first verified reporter.

Separately, deposit accounts used for illegal gambling operations can also be reported, with rewards of KRW 100,000 per case and no payment cap.

Korea Sports Leisure said voluntary public reporting plays a critical role in curbing illegal sports gambling and pledged to continue operating the system to reduce related social harm.
