The Cyprus Gaming and Casino Supervision Authority (APEK) has presented its institutional report for the 2024–2025 period, highlighting progress in regulatory oversight, player protection and international cooperation within the gambling sector.
At a recent press conference titled “Cyprus is a leader in European gaming supervision”, the Authority outlined its key achievements alongside its strategic priorities for the next phase of regulatory development.
During his speech, APEK President Professor Pieris Houridis noted that Cyprus hosting the annual Gaming Regulators European Forum (GREF) conference was a key form of international recognition.
Particular reference was made to the new ‘’Metron’’ funding programme, which aims to strengthen measures to prevent problem gambling.
The conference also presented responsible gambling tools and the national information and awareness campaign “Take Control”, which promotes prevention, personal responsibility and informed decision-making before engaging in gambling.
The APEK reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, integrity, public protection and to maintaining a safe and responsible gaming environment.
According to a report by APEK, the Cypriot land-based casino sector experienced strong growth in 2025, with GGR increasing by 20% to €227m, up from €189.2m in 2024. In 2023, GGR was recorded at €130 million.
The flagship integrated resort in Limassol, Melco’s City of Dreams Mediterranean, contributed to 86% of the total GGR in 2025.
Meanwhile, the National Betting Authority recently reported market statistics for Q4 2025 showing continued growth in the betting sector. The total GGR for 2025 reached €1.32bn, marking an 8% increase compared to 2024.
