The initiative aims to strengthen supervision and enforcement

The Greek Gaming Commission (EEEP) has approved a new agreement covering strategic, operational and organisational support services for the 2026–2030 period.

The regulator has awarded a 30-month support contract to Priority Quality Consultants. The contract is intended to support improvements in governance, internal processes, market monitoring and long-term strategic planning.

The move is aimed at strengthening the regulator’s supervision and enforcement capabilities at a time when the gambling market, particularly the online sector, is evolving rapidly and placing greater demands on oversight authorities.

The decision is also directly linked to the EEEP’s already-approved 2026–2030 strategic plan, which sets out a shift towards a more efficient operating model with greater use of technology and enhanced market-monitoring tools.

Last month, the regulator announced a 12-month television campaign that will air across major Greek broadcasters and regional channels, featuring public-interest messaging.

The aim of the campaign is to improve and shape the EEEP’s public image through informational material.

Alongside this, the EEEP has commissioned Pulse RC to conduct a nationwide survey of its institutional image. The study will measure public awareness of the Commission’s role, perceptions of its effectiveness and levels of trust in gambling market supervision.

These developments come as the Ministry of Finance prepares reforms to Greece’s regulatory framework, including stronger enforcement powers for the EEEP, expanded investigative authority for inspectors and tougher penalties for illegal operators, affiliates and promotional activity.

At the same time, the market is anticipating rising taxation on online casino games, with industry stakeholders warning that without effective action against illegal activity, higher taxation could push more players into unlicensed markets.
