CGMC reviewed a new casino inspection and quality assessment framework
Officials discussed improvements to the management of special casino employee licenses
The meeting forms part of Cambodia's broader effort to strengthen gaming regulation and governance

Cambodia's Commercial Gambling Management Commission (CGMC) has reviewed a series of regulatory initiatives designed to strengthen casino supervision, enhance inspection standards and improve the administration of casino employee licensing.

As reported by local media, the discussions took place during a meeting chaired by CGMC Secretary General Yeth Vinel in Phnom Penh on July 1. Deputy Secretary General Sen Sopheap, technical advisers and department directors also attended the session.

A key item on the agenda was the final draft of a casino quality inspection and assessment project. The proposed framework is intended to provide regulators with a more structured approach to evaluating casino operations and ensuring licensed properties comply with established regulatory and operational standards.

Officials also examined proposed adjustments to the commission's internal working groups to better align regulatory resources with evolving priorities across Cambodia's commercial gambling sector.

Another focus of the meeting was the management of special casino employee licenses. Participants discussed measures to strengthen licensing administration and oversight, reflecting the regulator's continued efforts to improve governance and accountability within the industry.

The latest review comes as Cambodia continues to tighten oversight of licensed gaming operators through a combination of regulatory reforms and enforcement actions.

During May, the CGMC revoked the casino license of Casino Ying Huang in Preah Sihanouk province after authorities uncovered alleged links to online scam operations and other illegal activities during a joint enforcement operation. The raid resulted in the detention of 66 individuals and the seizure of nearly 1,000 computers, more than 400 mobile phones, a firearm and suspected narcotics.

Following the investigation, the commission reminded all licensed casino operators to comply fully with Cambodian law and warned against involvement in online scams or other criminal activities. The regulator also reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with law enforcement agencies to inspect licensed casinos and take action against operators found to be violating gambling regulations.
