Brazil's operators received BR221bn ($43.3bn) in deposits during 2025, according to Finance Ministry data.

Of that, $7.1bn was generated as operator revenue, while the remaining BR183.7bn went toward prize payouts and withdrawable bonuses. This marks the first time the Ministry has released this data, which it says remains preliminary and subject to revision.

Operator revenue amounted to 16.7% of deposits, above both the 7% figure the industry itself had cited.

Under sector rules, operators kept 88% of that revenue, with the remaining 12% going to the Government and beneficiary groups, a share set to rise to 13% this year and 15% by 2028. Federal, state and municipal taxes apply on top of that.

October recorded the highest deposit volumes, coinciding with the Brazilian Championship's closing stretch and the knockout rounds of the Sul-Americana and Libertadores continental cups. On average, 9.25 million people bet each month, peaking at 10.82 million in October, with 25 million Brazilians placing bets over the full year.

Recently, Brazil's regulator, the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets, ordered the suspension of 14 legalised betting sites operated by Pixbet, Zeroumbet, Enseada, Select, Nexus and RR Participações, finding the irregularities identified put bettors, government oversight and the formal betting market at risk.
