Dream11, one of India's main online gaming platforms, has relaunched as a second-screen streaming platform following the country's recent ban on all real-money games.
India passed a sweeping bill on all real-money online gambling in August, with the ban coming into effect on 1 October.
There were immediate concerns around large-scale job losses and unemployment, especially as the market was valued at around $3.7bn and supported over 200,000 people directly.
However, Dream11 has managed to reinvent itself and relaunch as a separate service only two months after the ban.
The app will act as a second-screen sports entertainment platform, meaning that customers can watch creators and influencers react to the games live as they happen, as if they were watching the game over a video call with friends or family.
The platform will support real-time reactions and engagements, along with free-to-play fantasy opportunities.
On its social media page, Dream11 said: "There's something special that happens when people experience sports together. The noise, the reactions, the thrill - that shared energy is what makes every moment unforgettable.
"Meet the new Dream11 - built for fans who don't just watch, they feel."
So far, customer interactions seem to be mostly positive, with most of the comments welcoming the brand back and applauding the brand for not giving up.
Dream11 was the first Indian fantasy sport company to become a unicorn when it hit the $1bn valuation in April 2019
