Svenska Spel has named industry veteran Mårten Forste as its new Business Area Manager for Sport & Casino, with the appointment taking effect in February 2026. He will join the operator's Group Management team and report directly to CEO Anna Johnson.
Forste brings extensive experience from the online gaming sector, having previously served as COO at LeoVegas and held senior roles at Expekt.com.
His background also includes leadership positions in the wider tech and consumer industries, among them Match Group.
In recent years, Forste has operated a consulting business focused on strategic development within online gaming, and he has held several board positions, including chairman of LeoVegas and member of the board at ATG.
Commenting on Forste's appointment to the new role, Anna Johnson stated: "I am very pleased to welcome Mårten to Svenska Spel. His solid industry experience, combined with his expertise in leadership and digital business development, will be very valuable to us.
"We are in a phase of growth and transformation, where Mårten will have a central role in developing our business in sports and casino games with strong brands such as Stryktipset and Oddset."
Forste himself added: "The combination of a very strong brand, a leading market position and a clear commitment to society makes Svenska Spel a very exciting company. Here there is a unique ability to combine growth, gaming pleasure, care and responsibility - and a long tradition of developing some of the market's most well-known games.
"I bring with me experience from companies that have gone from challengers to market leaders and have worked hard to drive transformation and strengthen customer focus. I look forward to further developing Sport & Casino's business together with the team."
Forste succeeds Fredrik Wastenson, who left earlier this year after nearly 13 years with the company. Until the handover, Product Manager Jonas Nygren will continue as acting Business Area Manager.
The appointment comes at a time of ongoing structural change for Svenska Spel, including the integration of new suppliers such as Fennica Gaming and continued growth in online channels across the Swedish market.
Svenska Spel reported 7% year-on-year revenue growth in Q3 2025, with online channels accounting for 65% of total earnings
