PointsBet Holdings has confirmed that Andrew Catterall has been appointed Group CEO, effective 1 February 2026, subject to customary gaming licensing and regulatory approvals.
Catterall currently serves as CEO of PointsBet Australia and will succeed Sam Swanell, who will continue to support the operator through a transition and handover period.
Following this phase, Swanell will move into an advisory role within the group while remaining on the board as an executive director.
PointsBet Chairman, Brett Paton, said: "On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Sam Swanell for his exceptional leadership, unwavering commitment and deep contribution to PointsBet since founding the company."
Swanell co-founded PointsBet and led the operator through its expansion across regulated wagering markets in Australia and North America.
The board said his continued involvement is intended to provide continuity during a period of ownership and leadership change.
Catterall joined PointsBet in 2022 and has overseen the Australian business during a period of operational transformation, including product execution, regulatory engagement and commercial performance in a competitive domestic market.
Prior to joining PointsBet, he served as CEO of Racing.com and held senior roles across the AFL, Racing Victoria and digital and media businesses, alongside management consulting experience at Boston Consulting Group.
The appointment comes after Mixi Australia completed its takeover of PointsBet in September, securing 66.43% of voting rights following a months-long contest involving rival bidder Betr Entertainment.
Mixi's offer valued PointsBet at $1.25 per share and brought an end to a protracted bidding process that included multiple revised proposals, shareholder votes and regulatory scrutiny.
Since securing majority ownership, Mixi has moved to consolidate its position within PointsBet, with the leadership transition seen as part of a broader realignment following the change in control.
PointsBet said the CEO appointment supports operational stability as the group adapts to its new ownership structure.
PointsBet has continued to develop its regulated market operations amid the ownership transition, including expanding its Ontario online casino offering through a content partnership with Thunderkick and earlier integrations with live casino supplier Ezugi. The operator's North American business remains a key focus under Mixi's majority ownership.
