Genting Singapore has appointed Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay as Chairman and Director of Resorts World at Sentosa (RWS), effective February 1 2026, according to a regulatory filing issued on January 30.
Lim, 74, has served as Chairman of Genting Singapore since November 1993 and as Executive Chairman since September 2005. He also assumed the role of acting CEO of the company in June 2025.
The board said the appointment followed a recommendation from its nominating committee and reflected Lim’s long-standing leadership experience and familiarity with the group’s operations.
The position is executive in nature. As Chairman and director of RWS, Lim will lead the RWS board and be responsible for its overall effectiveness, including setting strategic direction and overseeing governance.
His remit includes regulatory compliance, ethical standards, risk management, internal controls, and engagement with key stakeholders.
Oversight of senior management performance and the appointment and succession planning of the RWS CEO also fall within the role.
Day-to-day operations remain the responsibility of management under the RWS CEO.
RWS operates Singapore’s integrated resort on Sentosa Island, which includes a casino, hotels, attractions, and entertainment venues. Genting Singapore indirectly owns 100% of the subsidiary.
Lim joined the Genting group in 1976 and currently holds several senior roles across the wider group. These include Executive Chairman of Genting Berhad, Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive of Genting Malaysia Berhad, Deputy Chairman and Executive Director of Genting Plantations Berhad, and Chairman of Genting UK.
He also holds direct and deemed shareholdings in Genting Singapore and its subsidiaries.
The filing noted that Lim has interests in other hospitality, gaming, and cruise-related businesses that may indirectly compete with RWS.
Genting Singapore stated that management oversight of the group is separate and that, aside from Lim, its board consists of four independent non-executive directors.
Resorts World properties have continued to strengthen executive leadership globally. In December 2025, Resorts World Las Vegas promoted Josef Wagner to SVP of Operations as part of broader efforts to enhance operational consistency and guest experience.
Resorts World Sentosa is one of Singapore’s two licensed integrated resorts and has announced multi-year redevelopment plans covering attractions, hotels, and sustainability initiatives as part of its next phase of investment
