German Bundesliga FC Stuttgart has reached a court settlement with former shirt sponsor Winamax, bringing an end to a legal dispute over the early termination of their partnership.
An agreement reached before the Regional Court provides for a payment of just under €2m to the Bundesliga club, according to the betting operator. The club confirmed a payment but did not specify the amount.
The club had introduced Winamax as its main shirt sponsor in 2023. The partnership was initially planned to run for three years but ended shortly before the 2025 German Cup final.
FC Stuttgart players instead wore the logo of their new sponsor, Landesbank Baden-Württemberg, on their shirts in the final. The club sued the betting operator over outstanding payments, while Winamax filed a counterclaim.
According to Winamax, the club’s early announcement of a successor sponsor around ten months before the end of the agreement and the removal of its logo from players’ shirts during an ongoing competition took place without its consent.
Winamax states it will continue its involvement as a professional partner in German and European sport, including handball, darts and the European esports scene.
A separate development in the German betting market saw Tipico announce it will offer live streams of all 2026 World Cup matches on its betting website and app, although with restrictions.
Users must leave the streaming screen to access betting features and the stream will stop once a product page is opened.
Access is limited to verified users with recent betting activity and is positioned as a betting companion rather than a replacement for traditional TV coverage.
The settlement reportedly includes a clause stating that neither party will comment further on the dispute
