Yoon Seunghyun, CEO of education company Woongjin Think Big, has joined South Korea’s Youth Illegal Gambling Eradication Relay Campaign, lending support to efforts aimed at raising awareness of the risks posed by illegal online gambling among young people.
As reported by The Asia Business Daily, the campaign was launched by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency in 2024 as a public awareness initiative designed to combat the rapid spread of illegal cyber gambling in online and mobile environments. The campaign operates through a relay format, with participants nominating others to continue promoting the message.
Yoon announced his participation on June 16 after being nominated by Koh Kwangbeom, CEO of Bolttech Korea. He said he chose to take part because of growing concerns that digitally connected youth could become vulnerable to illegal gambling schemes if preventive measures are not strengthened.
“Illegal cyber gambling targeting young people is a crime that threatens the healthy development of future generations,” Yoon said. He added that companies, educators, and communities all have a role to play in safeguarding young people from harmful influences that exist outside traditional learning environments.
As a company focused on education and child development, Woongjin Think Big said it will continue to speak out on issues that may affect the well-being and future prospects of children and adolescents.
To continue the campaign, Yoon nominated Kang Jeonghun, president of iM Bank, as the next participant in the relay initiative.
The campaign is part of a broader effort by public institutions, businesses, and community organizations to strengthen awareness of illegal gambling activities and encourage greater social participation in prevention efforts.
Organizers hope continued engagement from corporate leaders and public figures will help reinforce the message that illegal cyber gambling poses serious risks to young people and society as a whole.
