Sands China has completed the inaugural Responsible Gaming Youth Talent Development Program, introducing a new initiative aimed at developing future responsible gaming talent in Macau. The program is designed to equip young people with responsible gaming knowledge, practical skills and international exposure through training, project development and overseas exchange.
The program, organized through the Sands China Responsible Gaming Academy, brought together Sands China, the University of Macau's Institute for the Study of Commercial Gaming and the Macao Volunteer Association under an "industry-academia-community" collaboration model.
Following a competitive selection process, 32 University of Macau students participated in the first phase of training, where they developed innovative responsible gaming campaigns targeting young people and local communities.
The proposals covered areas including campus outreach, gamified learning, financial literacy, social media content, digital engagement tools and public awareness initiatives. After presenting their projects, 23 participants, including outstanding students and representatives from the three partner organizations, were selected to join a four-day study visit to Singapore from May 31 to June 3.
The overseas exchange served as one of the program's highlights. Participants visited integrated resorts, including Marina Bay Sands, where they met responsible gaming and operations teams to learn about industry practices. The delegation also met with Singapore's National Council on Problem Gambling and community support organization WE CARE to better understand the country's responsible gaming framework.
Beyond student development, the initiative also strengthened collaboration among the three participating organizations by combining academic research, industry expertise, community engagement and youth perspectives to explore new approaches to responsible gaming education.
Through ongoing partnerships with local and international educational institutions, the academy continues to support professional training while promoting a sustainable responsible gaming culture across Macau.
The program attracted around 150 applicants, with 32 University of Macau students selected for the inaugural intake
