The Danish Parliament is currently considering a bill to allow for bingo via walkie-talkie and local radio, with the Danish Gambling Authority (DGA) - Spillemyndigheden - anticipating licence applications to open on 1 January 2026.
Indeed, this latest licence will allow bingo providers to supply products in Denmark via walkie-talkie and local radio and will be regulated by the Gambling Act and the Executive Order on Online Casino. Licence applications for this newly introduced kind of regulated bingo are now officially open and are to be submitted and processed via the DGA.
Prospective operators for walkie-talkie and bingo radio will be required to meet a number of requirements outlined as part of the new legislation - which have not yet been publicly released. However, successfully licensed applicants must file an official report on their first year of operations to be submitted to the regulator within 14 months of their licence activation.
Following the official updating of its marketing guidelines nationwide in July, which outlined new requirements for gambling operators holding Danish Licences, the nation's government more recently brokered a cross-party agreement on a new responsible gambling policy package in early Q4. This package drew an intensified focus on protecting young persons from gambling harms, alongside a ban on advertising during sports events.
Elsewhere, in October, the Swedish trade association for online gambling, BOS, commissioned an independent report from law firm Nordic Legal to investigate potential improvements to Sweden's gambling regulations. The report highlighted that the Danish market enjoys a much more favourable system, and recommended 19 changes to the Swedish Gambling Authority, Spelinspektionen.
The Danish Gambling Authority confirmed that betting spend in the nation fell year-on-year during the month of September 2025
