708 employees have joined matching and recruitment sessions so far

Macau's three-year transition period for satellite casinos is nearing completion, with all such venues set to cease operations by the end of 2025.

The Labour Affairs Bureau said that the employment transition for affected workers has been "smooth and orderly", as reported by Teledifusão de Macau.

The bureau confirmed it has not received any complaints involving loss of labor rights due to the closure of satellite casinos or those still winding down operations. Officials stressed that concessionaires must ensure continued employment for locally based workers deployed to satellite venues, while satellite-casino owners are responsible for arranging proper placement for their directly hired staff.

To support affected employees, a dedicated one-stop counter has been in operation since June offering job consultation, registration and referral services. A separate hotline and access to online matching platforms have also been made available. Where needed, workers may join targeted matching programs, themed recruitment fairs and special employment plans.

Up to 30 November, the bureau and three gaming concessionaires jointly organized 15 interview and matching sessions, covering roles such as customer service, marketing, food and beverage services, culinary work, facilities management and environmental services. These sessions attracted 708 participating employees, giving them alternative placements within Macau's broader services sector.

Authorities said they will continue monitoring recruitment results and ensure concessionaires fulfil their obligation to absorb eligible local workers. In parallel, 103 labour-rights briefing sessions have been organized to help affected staff understand their protections and employment options.

Officials reiterated that safeguarding locally hired workers throughout the satellite-casino phase-out remains a priority for the government. With continued supervision and support platforms in place, the city aims to complete the transition without compromising labor rights or employment stability.
