Authorities demolish two more five-storey buildings tied to telecom fraud and online gambling
633 of 635 illegal structures in Section 2 of KK Park now destroyed
Government vows continued cooperation with neighbouring countries to eradicate criminal hubs

Myanmar has escalated its efforts to tackle telecom fraud and online gambling. Additional illegal buildings in the KK Park area have been demolished, according to The Global New Light of Myanmar.

The move forms part of a wider national effort to dismantle criminal networks based in Shwe Kokko and surrounding zones.

A joint team made up of security forces, administrative bodies and local authorities carried out the latest demolitions on Wednesday. Two five-storey structures, reportedly used as operational bases for online gambling and telecom fraud, were torn down in Section 2 of KK Park. With these removals, authorities have now demolished 633 out of 635 illegal buildings identified in that section.

Demolition work is also progressing in Section 3, where operations have relied on machinery and fire barrels since mid-December. Five additional two-storey buildings were destroyed yesterday, raising the total number of demolished structures in that area to 116.

The government has framed the crackdown as part of a broader commitment to addressing organised crime linked to digital fraud and cross-border gambling. Officials said telecom fraud centres and illegal gambling hubs pose serious risks to public security and regional stability, often involving transnational criminal groups.

Authorities noted that the operation requires coordination not only within Myanmar but also with neighbouring governments, given the cross-border nature of many syndicates. Ongoing cooperation aims to prevent criminal networks from relocating or resuming operations elsewhere in the country.

Officials reaffirmed that efforts will continue until illegal activities in these areas are fully dismantled and the sites can no longer be used for fraudulent or gambling-related operations.
