Tim Miller has announced that he will be stepping away from his role as Executive Director at the Gambling Commission later on this year.
He has been a driving force in the UK gambling industry for 10 years, first joining the Commission in August 2016.
During this time, he was integral in navigating the Covid-19 pandemic, the UK White Paper and several other notable changes in the scene.
Miller commented in a statement: “Today I announced to my colleagues that after a decade at the Gambling Commission, I’ve decided it’s time for my next chapter.
“The Commission has been the most enjoyable and fulfilling part of my career so far and I’ve been so lucky to work with such brilliant people who care deeply about getting regulation right.
“But for me, 10 years always felt like the right point to take on a new challenge.”
Most recently, Miller spoke at the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) AGM to discuss the changes unfolding in the UK.
Miller concluded: “I’ve always been a public servant but am now looking forward to working for myself.
“This is going to include working internationally with a number of governments, regulators and organisations that are focused on supporting the development of well‑regulated and competitive markets. More on that later in September after my last day at the Commission.
“For now, there’s still plenty to get done before I hand back my Gambling Commission lanyard.”
There is some speculation about whether he will join Andrew Rhodes, who was recently appointed as Principal Consultant at Hawkbridge, an international strategic advisory firm focused on the gambling sector.
He was also tipped as being a potential successor to Rhodes, considering his extensive experience in the Commission.
Miller was previously the Chair for Citizens Advice Coventry
