Sheffield United has announced a new five-year retail partnership with Fanatics, with the company set to manage the club's official retail operations across ecommerce, mobile and physical store channels.
The agreement is designed to modernise the club's retail offering and improve the shopping experience for supporters. It comes ahead of the launch of Sheffield United's new Adidas home shirt and training range in early July, which will coincide with the reopening of the refurbished Blades Store at Bramall Lane.
The club said the store is currently undergoing a significant refurbishment as part of wider investment in its retail infrastructure. Once complete, the updated outlet will operate on a cashless basis alongside the club's ticket office.
Fanatics, which has a UK distribution centre in Manchester, will oversee retail operations with a focus on expanding product availability and improving customer service.
The partnership also includes plans to develop locally inspired merchandise celebrating Sheffield United, Bramall Lane and the city, alongside future product collaborations.
Commenting on the new deal, Sheffield United CEO Stephen Bettis stated: “We are delighted to be partnering with Fanatics as we continue to invest in and enhance the retail experience for our supporters.
"This partnership is about much more than launching a new online store or refurbishing our retail space – it's about creating a modern, accessible and supporter-focused operation which reflects the ambitions of the football club.
Fanatics brings a wealth of experience from successfully working with some of the world's leading sports organisations, and we're confident their expertise will bring significant improvements across our retail offering.”
Clare Dickinson, VP of Football Partnerships at Fanatics, added: "Sheffield United is a club with a passionate fanbase and a rich history, and we're proud to be trusted as their retail partner.
“Our focus is on bringing the world-leading technology, retail and merchandising expertise that we deliver for leading clubs and leagues around the world, so that every visit to the Blades Store, whether online or in person at Bramall Lane, reflects the standard these fans deserve."
The announcement follows a period of wider commercial activity for Fanatics across multiple business areas. In recent weeks, the company launched an integrity-focused Bad Actor Program alongside IC360 and Signify Group through Fanatics Sportsbook, while also expanding its presence in motorsport through a NASCAR sponsorship.
Earlier this year, Fanatics also agreed a long-term collectibles licensing partnership with FIFA, extending its global sports merchandising portfolio.
The Blades Store and Sheffield United ticket office will both operate as cashless facilities following the refurbishment
